Yes—felt absorbs sound, but it doesn’t insulate. That distinction is important. Felt absorbs the sound waves that bounce back and forth in a room, making voices sound softer and clearer. It doesn’t block sound coming from the neighbors; that requires mass, not felt. Our panels are made of PET felt, which primarily absorbs mid and high frequencies—exactly the range where conversations, television, and cutlery clinking against plates become annoying.
The panels reduce mid- and high-frequency sounds by up to about sixty percent. In a room, you don’t perceive this as silence, but as tranquility: it becomes easier to follow the conversation at the table, and you can turn down the volume on the TV. How much you hear depends mainly on how much wall space you cover, not on the panel alone. Low frequencies—bass, traffic, a washing machine—remain. No felt can handle those.
No. An audible difference usually becomes noticeable when covering just 15 to 25 percent of the wall surface. That’s often one wall behind the sofa, or a composition above the dining table. You can cover more, but it’s not a requirement. We prefer to look at where the sound is coming from and where the eye needs a rest—and that’s rarely the entire wall.
